Sammy Bray Obituary

Samuel Lee Bray, 70, of Lexington, North Carolina, passed away early Friday morning April 19,2024, in his home. He was born to the late Earl Lee Bray and Hilda Hamilton Bray on February 6, 1954 in Greenville, North Carolina.

Sammy lived a very fulfilled life. He had numerous stories to tell of his early years that his family loved to listen to. From growing up helping his father run his store, to his hippie days and cherished trip to August Jam. He had many adventures to tell of running his bail bondsmen business in the eighties. He loved hunting at Alpines in Greenville. He spent many days bass fishing not only all over North Carolina but in tournaments all over the east coast. Sammy's favorite time to fish was in the dead of winter where he would use jigging spoons to catch countless striped bass and catfish. He had a real talent for cooking. His family looked forward to his Sunday evening meals for many years.

Sammy was preceded in death by his parents, sister Jean Bray, and his greatly adored Boston Terrier, Sonny. He is survived by his beloved wife of forty years Ann Crumpton Bray, his daughter Samantha Price (Tyler) of Lexington, two grandchildren Colton and Lynlee Price, and sister Patricia Cox of Farmville.

Sammy befriended many people during his lifetime. No matter what season of his life that you knew him, you know that Sammy Bray was a very strong willed individual. He wasn't shy to give you his true opinion on something but would also give you the shirt off his back. He wanted the best for his family and those around him. He never gave that up even to the very end of his battle with cancer. Sammy was one of a kind and will be deeply missed.
