Bart Elwood Near

Bart Elwood Near (aka “Rambler”), 68, of Bermuda Run, NC passed away Sunday March 19, 2023 peacefully at his home. He worked in the audio-video business for more than 35 years,  most recently at Carolina Custom Sound of Advance, He retired this year.

Bart was born February 4, 1955 in Stuttgart, Germany and was adopted by Elwood (“Woody”) Gene Near and Mary Ann LaBelle Near. Bart married Rogena (“Gena”) Galyean Near  May 19, 1979. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War Era.

Bart is survived by his wife and best friend Gena Near of Bermuda Run; his younger brother Boyd (Kristin) Near of Albuquerque, NM; sister-in laws Rindy (Scott) Russell of McLeansville, NC and Susan (Rob) Miles of Oak Ridge, NC; nieces and nephews Joe Near of OR, Robert Moss of CA, Lauren (Bill) Lindler of Greensboro, NC, David (Myriah) Miles of  Stella, NC and Joshua Miles of Oak Ridge, NC; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Bart was preceded of death by his father Elwood (Woody”) and mother Mary LaBelle Near.

Bart was a proud member of the U.S. Military Vets Motorcycle Club where he is survived by many friends that he called brothers.

A celebration of Life will be held at River Oaks Community Church in Clemmons, NC April 1, 2023 at 1:00 pm.
