Charles Larue Peters

Charles LaRue Peters, “Chuck”, of Winston Salem, NC went to his heavenly home on Wednesday October 25, 2023 after battling end stage kidney disease.  He was born October 23, 1935 in Sayre, Pa.  Chuck was a man of deep faith and a beloved son, brother, father, friend and most especially Pop to his 8 grandchildren.  Chuck served the Lord locally and abroad in missions and evangelism for most of his life.

Chuck worked with the Missions Team at Calvary Baptist Church in Winston Salem, NC from the time he was in his early 40s until just a few years ago.  He made over 50 trips to Kenya, Africa.  He had a passion to spread the Good News of Salvation through Christ to the African people and to follow through with Christian education, mentorship and friendship.

He served in the US Army during the Korean War from April 25, 1954 to April 10, 1956.  After an honorable discharge,  he married the love of his life, Edna Mae Parisi and began to build their life together in Philadelphia, PA.  In 1972 Chuck and Edna and their four children moved to Winston Salem, NC for Dad to pursue his career with McLean Trucking Company.

Chuck was preceded in death by his beloved Edna in March of 2004.  He is survived by his son and daughter in law, Chuck and Gail, his son and daughter in law, Guy and Donna, his son and daughter in law Scott and Karen and his daughter and son in law Lisa and Mike Bailey.  He is also survived by his eight grandchildren in which he delighted until his last day, Jonathan Peters and  wife Morgan, Jordan Peters, Elisabeth Peters, Joshua Peters and wife Brittany, Caleb Peters, Matthew Peters, Spencer Bailey and Kendall Bailey.

There will be a celebration of Chuck’s life on Sunday November 5  with Family Visitation from 2:00-3:00pm, followed by a Memorial Service at 3:00pm at Calvary Baptist Church in Winston Salem, NC. 134 South Peace Haven Road 27104.  Dr Gary Chapman and Rev. Al Gilbert will officiate the service.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Calvary Baptist Church Kenya Missions projects.
