Jennifer Carrigan Smith, 66, of Yadkinville passed away November 1, 2026, surrounded by the family she loved so deeply, she passed away peacefully at home.
Born on October 25, 1960, she was the daughter of the late Ruth Childress Carrigan and Leroy Carrigan. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Tyler Handy, and her former husband, Billy Ray Handy.
She leaves behind her children, Adam (Cynthia) Handy and Wendy Bell (Joseph Burgess); her sister, Kathy Gosnell; and her special friend, Jerry Leo Smith.
She was a proud and loving grandmother to Shianna (Tony) Mendoza, Jeannie (Heslin) Mendez, Zackery (Sherry) Williams, Adam Handy Jr., Austin Handy, Alyssa Handy, Miranda Handy, and Anna Willard.
Her great-grandchildren—Ian Mendoza, Elijah Mendoza, Emory Mendoza, Zoe Mendez, Atom Williams, Tatiana Williams, Dalton Williams, Letty Williams, Brandon Williams, and Elijah Thompson—brought so much happiness to her life.
Family meant everything to her. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren fiercely, and there was never any question about how important her family was to her. Her family was her greatest love, and the memories they made together will be treasured for generations.
Anyone who knew her knew that she was truly one of a kind. She was blunt, outspoken, and never afraid to tell you exactly what she thought—whether you asked her or not. Her honesty, quick wit, and sense of humor could keep everyone laughing, and those who loved her wouldn't have wanted her any other way.
She loved Halloween and everything that came with it, trips to the beach, fishing, and a cold Pepsi. It was the simple things that made her happy, especially when they were shared with the people she loved.
Her absence leaves a space in our family that can never truly be filled. Life will not be the same without her, but we are grateful for every memory, every laugh, and every moment we were blessed to have with her.
She was deeply loved, and she will be deeply missed.
Arrangements will be made by the family at a later date.
