Joseph Edgar Edmonds, of Clemmons, passed away May 11, 2025 at his home in Clemmons, North Carolina.

Joe was born in Bryson City North Carolina to Joseph Wesley Edmonds and Clara Andrews Edmonds on April 27, 1953. Joe married Penny Webb Edmonds on November 19, 1977 in Winston-Salem, NC. He was a graduate of North Carolina State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and Wake Forest University where he obtained his Master of Business Degree. Joe had an illustrious 43-year career as a Mechanical Engineer for Bahnson Mechanical Systems, where he was loved by his colleagues and customers. Joe served as Scout Master of Boy Scout Troop 736 in Clemmons for many years and enjoyed numerous camping and backpacking outings with the Scouts. He accompanied the Troop on multiple high adventure trips to Philmont Scout Reservation and at High Adventure Sea Base. Joe also served the Old Hickory Scout Council in an Adult Leadership Training and Wood Badge. Joe was a devout Christian, and resolute member of River Oaks Community Church where he served as a Deacon and on the Usher Team.

He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Wesley Edmonds, and brother, David Mitchell Edmonds, Joe is survived by his wife of 48 years, Penny Webb Edmonds, his son, Joshua Morgan Edmonds (Amy), his daughter, Molly Edmonds Daniels (Josh), brother Jim (Jane) Edmonds and Mike Edmonds (Barbara), ”special sister”, Michelle Edmonds, his Mother, Clara Andrews Edmonds and his Grandchildren, Christian Andrew Scott, Madeline Grace Edmonds, Joseph Alexander Edmonds, Elijah James Edmonds, Zu ‘Laya Lynette Edmonds, and Hunter Dean Daniels. He is survived by his brother-in-law, Jarrett Graham Webb III, and Jarrett’s wife, Gale Webb.

A Celebration of Life Service for Joe will be held at River Oaks Community Church, 1855 Lewisville-Clemmons Rd, Clemmons on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 1:00pm.

In lieu of flowers Memorial contributions may be given to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House (trellissupport.org/content/ways-give), REVO Church-designated to missions (PO Box 20697, Winston-Salem, NC 27120), or to the DAISY Foundation, 6529 Almida Vista Place, Anacortes, WA.

The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Cameron Pywell of the Forsyth Cancer Center, the Staff of the Infusion Lab at Forsyth Cancer Center, Nurse Keith, the staff of the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, especially to CNA Robin, his Hospice Home Nurse, Teresa, his work colleagues for their many calls, visits, and prayers. We would also like to thank our prayer warriors of both River Oaks Community Church and REVO Church. The family is also incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support and kindness offered to Penny during his Illness.
