Lana Nicole Hensley Lopez, 36, of High Point, passed away on January, 25 2017. She was born May 14, 1980 in Muncie, IN to Monty L and Carol Gill Hensley. She was a 1998 graduate of Yorktown High School, Yorktown, IN. Lana studied journalism at Ball State University. An outgoing person, she always enjoyed meeting new people and seeing new places. After graduating from Ball State in 2003, she moved to Beaumont, Texas and then to Greensboro, N.C. She and her husband Robert Lopez loved traveling, and during their nearly 10-year marriage, made numerous road trips, and visited places such as Cancun, Paris and Southern California. While living in Greensboro, she would sometimes accompany her husband, who covered the criminal justice system for a local newspaper, to court, and sat in on several trials that he wrote about. She parlayed those experiences, along with her love of true crime books and television, into a pursuit for a paralegal certificate, which she earned from Guilford College in 2015. She was living in High Point, N.C. at the time of her death. Lana is survived by her husband; her parents Monty and Carol (Gill) Hensley; sister Amy Hammersley Durbin; brother-in-law Kevin Durbin; nieces Emily and Hannah Durbin; father and mother-in-law Cirilo and Elena Lopez; sister-in-law Norma Lopez and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was also a loving mother to her cat Jet. Per her wishes, Lana was cremated and her family will host a memorial service at a later date.
