Margaret Grimley Hovey

Margaret Rita Grimley Hovey, 91, of Winston-Salem passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at home surrounded by the love of her family. She was born June 1,1929 in Cumberland, Rhode Island to James Edward Grimley and Rose M.Grimley. She was a homemaker devoted to raising her children. Once they were on their own she went to work at Wachovia Bank in the Bond department until she retired. She enjoyed Carolina basketball, knitting, embroidering, cooking, baking, and spending time with family. Margaret was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend. Mom Hovey was a second mother to many family friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Herbert Harold Hovey, Sr.; and a sister, Dorothy Murphy. She is survived by her four children; daughter, Elizabeth H. Kelliher (Dan); son, Herbert H. Hovey ( Sheila); daughter, Karen H. Brunt (Steve); and son, James E. Hovey; three grandchildren, Michael Hovey (Carmela), Erin Kinberger (Billy), and Brittany Cook (Dan); three great grandchildren, Liam Vincent Hovey, Zoe Gray Kinberger, and Emma Ryan Cook. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
