Peggy Marie Boyer Grainger, 91, of Winston-Salem, NC passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 21, 2026, surrounded by her family, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
Peggy was born on April 17, 1934, in Patrick County Virginia, to the late Jack and Florence Stone. Peggy is survived by her daughters Susan York (Robert), and Donna Loignon, Her grandchildren Dustin Glasscoe (Jessica), Nathanial York (Natasha), Cody Miller (Morgan), Jake Miller (Brooke), Chris Loignon (Kendra), and Matthew Loignon (Mary), as well as Eight great grandchildren, and her loving sister, Patsy Hancock. And a host of special friends. She was proceeded in death by her brothers Jack Stone, Richard Stone, Dewey Stone and Jimmy Stone.
Peggy graduated from Walter M. Williams High School, in Burlington NC. She spent her younger years in Florida, where she was employed by Pan-Am Airlines, Once returning to NC, she was employed by Womble Carlisle Sandridge & Rice Law Firm, where she was one of their first Paralegals hired, she was employed for 28 years, until she retired in 1999.
Peggy was strong-minded and independent, she had a gift for conversation and never met a stranger, her warmth and spirit led her to caring and compassion for helping others, she was a member at Ardmore Baptist Church, where she found joy in her faith, and cherished the time she spent with her church community. Peggy also spent her time volunteering with several organizations in the area.
She loved, Travelling, cooking, crafting, playing cards, and beach trips with her "Girlfriends," and family gatherings.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026 at 12:00 PM at Ardmore Baptist Church, 501 Miller Street, Winston-Salem, NC. The burial will follow at 2:00 PM at Parklawn Memorial Gardens on Peters Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations may be made to, Kate B Reynolds Hospice Home, or Ardmore Baptist Church.
