Peggy Hutchens Hamm, aged 93, of Clemmons, NC, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on November 26, 2025, at Bermuda Village Skilled Nursing. Born on October 5, 1932, in East Bend, NC, she was the daughter of R. Weldon Hutchens and Elsie Douglas Hutchens.
Peggy graduated from East Bend High School in 1951, where she was an enthusiastic basketball player and an active participant in several academic clubs. She pursued further education at Draughon’s Business College and Forsyth Technical College. Peggy was a dedicated and dependable employee in the manufacturing and trucking industries. After retirement, she fulfilled her dream of owning a home at Sunset Beach, NC.
A devoted member of Twin City Baptist Church in Winston-Salem and later First Baptist of North Myrtle Beach, SC, Peggy continued her faith journey at Center Grove Baptist Church upon returning to Clemmons, NC.
Peggy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Eugene Hamm; son Steve Hamm and his wife Pam; grandson Grant Hamm; great-granddaughter Kendra Hamm; and six siblings. She is survived with love by her son Mike Hamm (Tanya), daughter Cindy Turner (George), grandchildren Melissa Swaim (Kevin), Misty Hamm, Brandon Turner (Keri - deceased), Andi Ackley (Sean), and Byron Hamm, along with seven treasured great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A memorial service celebrating Peggy’s life will be held at The Chapel at Bermuda Village Retirement Center, 142 Bermuda Village Dr, Bermuda Run, NC on Friday, December 5, 2025 at 2:00 PM with pastor Ron Schuyler officiating.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Bermuda Village for their compassionate support and exceptional care. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
