Coy Smith Obituary

Coy Smith, 77, passed away February 25th, 2020 at Piney Grove Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Kernersville. Coy was born October 28th, 1942 in Hot Springs, Arkansas to the late Coy Baxton Smith and Eleanor "Ellie" Virginia Smith. Coy moved to California as a teenager, started a family and lived there for thirty-five years. He worked for USAirways (formerly PSA) as a machinist. Coy relocated to Winston-Salem in 1991. He retired from USAirways in 2005 after thirty-five years of service. Coy loved his family, fishing, football, baseball, golf, basketball and other sports as well as animals (especially his dogs Baby and Bella.) He coached and played baseball. He was a tender hearted gambling man who was a hard worker and most notably a loving and dedicated Dad and Papa. Coy was truly the rock of his family. Coy was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Bobby Smith and Marvin Smith, his son, Daniel Craig Smith and granddaughter, Miranda Hope Finch. He is survived by his sons Steven Grant Brooks (Jackie), Darryl Wayne Smith and daughter, Lori Denise Smith. Grandchildren Jennifer Brooks (Alex), Melissa Hughes (Shaun), Jeffrey Miles (Liz), Courtney Barber (Chris), Jake Brooks, Jared Brooks, Danielle "Hailey" Smith and Caroline Rowell. Great grand-children Cassie, Alex, Anessa, McKenzie, Kingston, Zaiden and Phoenix. Brother James Smith (Evelyn) and sister Sharon Smith; as well as many nieces and nephews. The family will hold a private service.
