Dr. Carl Paul Zelinka

Dr. Carl Paul Zelinka, 91, of Clemmons, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2020.  He was born in Endicott, New York on October 3, 1928 to Paul and Theresa Strbo Zelinka. Carl served in the US Navy after graduating from high school.  Upon leaving the service, he attended college followed by Medical School where he earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree.  Practicing as a physician was his passion and what he truly loved to do.  Carl retired at the age of 84 from his private practice at Belpre Medical Clinic.  An avid sports fan, Dr. Zelinka supported the Ohio State Buckeyes. He also enjoyed playing tennis and golf during his leisure time. He was very active and loved to dance to Big Band music. Carl was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother Paul Zelinka. He is survived by his wife Rita Hicks Zelinka of 32 years; his former wife Mildred Zelinka; two daughters Diana Zelinka Vaughn, and Carol Zelinka Johnson (Rod); a son  Carl P. Zelinka II; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; stepdaughter Angela Reid (Britt), stepson David Andrew Arthur; and 4 step-grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 15, 2020 at Calvary Baptist Church, 134 South Peace Heaven Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27104 with Jerry Morrison officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Calvary Baptist Church.
