Jessie Harlene Gudgeon (née Hollett), 84, of Clemmons, NC passed away after a short illness on Thursday, October 28, 2021. She was born July 28, 1937 in St. Johns, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada to William Clayton and Catherine Hogan Hollett.
Her friends all knew her as a person who loved watching Hallmark movies, and spending time with her large family. She loved her family unconditionally and second, only for her love of God, put her family above everything else.
She was a dedicated Soldier in the Salvation Army for most of her life and spent her early years involved in the church; she retired as a social worker and secretary from the Salvation Army in Columbia, SC; then devoted the rest of her life taking care of her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step mother, Lily Hollett; husband, Raymond Gudgeon; sister, Jean (Armine) Anthony; brother, Clayton (Wilma) Hollett; and niece Kristina Hollett. She is survived by her sons Jim Myers of Clemmons, NC, Ben (Jackie) Myers of Spotsylvania, VA; daughters Cathy Myers of Lewisville, NC, and Patty (Les) Hardwick of Pensacola, FL; 11 grandchildren Joshua, Cheyenne, Eric, Mark (Angie), Nicole, Rachel (Jordan), Katie (Wayne), Krissy, Jaimie, Jessy and Destin; 14 great grandchildren; 2 great, great grandchildren; brothers David (Effie) Hollett, Bob (Cathy) Hollett, and sister, Joy Barrett of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.
The family is grateful to the Cardiac and Palliative Care Teams of Forsyth Medical Center and Kate B Reynolds Hospice Home for all of the wonderful care she received over the past few weeks.
A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Twin City Cremations and Funeral Services with Pastor David Frankenfield officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Kate B Reynolds Hospice Home.
