Jo Ellen (Fuller) Cheek passed away Wednesday March 20, 2024 in Winston Salem, North Carolina, at the age of 91. She was born on December 23, 1932, in Beckley, West Virginia. Jo Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, Toney Cheek. Jo Ellen will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her family daughter, Karen Carver, husband Charles, Winston Salem, NC; son, Keith Kountz, wife Rose, Winston Salem, NC; daughter, Rita Gunnoe, husband Bobby, Beckley, West Virginia; Douglas Kountz, wife Naomi, Winston Salem, NC; Stepchildren: Kathy and John Hymes, Beaver, West Virginia and Jack and Anita Cheek, Beckley, West Virginia; sister, Ruth Tolbert, Elizabeth City, North Carolina. She was blessed with 9 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Jo Ellen loved her family and friends dearly at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church in Beckley, West Virginia, and New Hope Baptist Church in Winston Salem, North Carolina. Her kindness and love will be cherished by all who were blessed enough to know her. Jo Ellen's memory will remain forever in the hearts of those she touched. A funeral service will be held 12:00 Noon Friday March 22, 2024 at New Hope Baptist Church, 4911 Old Rural Hall Road, Winston Salem, North Carolina with Pastor Charles Carver officiating, the family will greet friends 1 hour prior to the service. A funeral service will be held 12:00 Noon Saturday March 23, 2024 at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, 262 Mt. Tabor Road, Beckley, West Virginia with Pastor Michael King and Pastor Charles Carver officiating, the family will greet friends 1 hour prior to the service. Entombment will follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Beckley, West Virginia. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to New Hope Baptist Church or Mt. Tabor Baptist Church.
