Ramona Niles (Winship) Kannon

Ramona Winship Kannon, 69, passed away peacefully at home September 9, 2023 from complications related to cancer. She came to this world on September 9, 1954 to Raymond Winship and Gladys Johnson Winship in Chicago Ill.

Ramona had an artistic streak which she expressed through painting of ceramics of all sizes, macrame and coloring.  She enjoyed games and gaming, backgammon most of all and made friends globally playing online. Her deep and abiding love for dogs, specifically German Shepherds and had one or more most of her adult life. 

However, what made Ramona truly special, her gift or her superpower if you will, was her ability to make you feel at ease, to feel welcome and at peace in her presence.  Ramona had that special kind of patience that allowed her to grow things: plants, people, relationships. Ramona encouraged her children, and grandchildren in equal measure to pursue their own individual passions, be it education, art or sports with equal measure. She was inordinately proud of each of her children’s and grandchildren’s accomplishments both great and small.  She was their greatest cheerleader. 

Ramona leaves behind her husband of 54 years Timothy Alan Kannon; her children: Michael Kannon, Jennifer Bolitho, Alexander Kannon, Kristopher Kannon and Ericka Kannon; her grandchildren: Jimmy Rubino, Zach Kannon, Ethan Arias, Alice Kannon, Lilly Kannon, Kaleb Kannon, Ella Kannon, Lukas Kannon and Levi Kannon; her lifelong friend Debi Gibson Nichols; and her dog Sergeant Kannon; as well as a host of in laws; chosen family and dear friends.
